:: A labour of love ::

Saturday was a day of blessing for me...to start with I received a parcel from my lovely friend Julie who made this beautiful little cup for me as a swap that we recently did. I was delighted...it's beautiful and just what I wanted, I have coveted her creations for a long time...thank you so much Julie....I love it!
::
I would encourage you to pop over and pay her a visit.... These are the wristies which I made for her in hand dyed pure wool.....(sorry for stealing your picture Julie, I didn't take one.)
The yarn was dyed with avocado skins would you believe??? Isn't the colour lovely?

The second blessing was the end of a labour of love.
The 'Mouse blanket' was finally completed at 9.50 yesterday morning, I had risen early at 6am, (on a Saturday I ask you ), to finish this mammoth task.
Dear, dear blog friends please, please remind me of this public vow to never attempt another blanket should I get such a crazy idea again...

Each of these squares took an hour to make in Maggi's linen yarn.

It is not as large as intended , I wanted it to be 12 square by twelve to fit our king sized bed. However, I ran out of yarn several weeks ago, only to find, to my horror, that it was no longer available in the UK !
After much surfing and searching the web I managed to find somewhere where I could get the yarn, but only in ecru, hence the rather large edging.....I was also horrified to find the yarn had gone up to £7.05 per 50g ball.....
I would also like to apologise to, and thank, my lovely friend Sue who gave me the pattern and was at the end of many an email begging for advice and help.....or my wailing and lamenting....

So after pressing the blanket, laying it out then smoothing and admiring , in our newly plastered and decorated bedroom.....Mr. B and I snuggled under the blanket last night....with the hope of cozy sweet dreams......and a wonderful warm nights sleep.

well dear friends it was only one of us who had the warm and cozy nights sleep as Mr. B pulled the duvet, blanket and all over to his side in the night leaving me to wake this morning shivering....and wondering if it was worth all the hard work?

Your trade with Julie, was wonderful both what you received and what you gave. I love her work and have a little collection going. Your coverlet is wonderful and I can't imagine all the hours of work that went into it. I can see why Mr. B wanted it all to himself!!!

Oh Helen, what a lovely post.

I love the cup Julie made it's so sweet, she's one very talented lady and I have promised to treat myself to one of her gorgeous mugs this year.

Your wristies are just lovely, they look very comfy and soft. The colours are lovely, avocado skins, now I have never heard of anyone using them before.

Your mouse blanket is just wonderful, what a labour of love it was, but so worth the effort. Makes it even more special.

Hope you are all well,

Claire X

How nice to see a post from you at last! And what a wonderful one too. I love the blanket, if you ever get the temptation again, do one for me! We solved the problem of my cold nights by having a duvet each so now I can sleep with my feet stuck out and nobody cares. Lots of love and hugs to you all, Jane xxx

Helen, it's lovely, and a labour of love indeed. Next time, a sharp elbow in Mr B's ribs may help....! Only kidding!

The blanket is beautiful and well worth the labour of love. I also really like the wristies.
I'm so accustomed to having covers pulled off me that even in my sleep I seem to have an instinct to grab my half if I sense my husband stirring! :) xx

Oh my - how beautiful is that blanket - and how much work did you put into the creation of that beautiful treasure! Ubelievable!!

I have one of Julie's poetry cups also - I adore her creations also. I treasure her things and they mean the world to me.

The wristlets that you made are drop dead gorgeous - you are a master knitter!

All I can say is WOW!!
