:: Lifes little disappointments ::

You may remember, some time ago I was approached by the manager of a boutique who wanted some hand knits and asked me to put a small knitwear collection together....

This included theses chunky beads made from pure Alpaca wool .....and filled with fragrant lavender....

My raspberry ripple chunky knit scarf made from Rowan yarns and collinette....

This granite cowl made from Wensleydale yarns....

and my favourite...a duck egg blue and raspberry Dickensian muffler, again made from Wensleydale yarn...

Unfortunately things didn't work out, and I now have spent a lot of time and money buying yarn making the garments and having labels and tags made.
Leaving me with these ....and other hand knits which now need loving homes....

necks to warm and ladies to adorn....
if you are interested in any of these pieces please email me and I can provide you with the price list...and details of the other pieces...

Helen, what a shame, and after all your hard work. Why don't you open an etsy or folksy shop?

Hey Helen, what a shame things didn't work out. Never mind, as they say when one door opens another door closes and vice versa and we all know about clouds etc. I am sure these will be snapped up by discerning buyers
A humid morning here, it's starting to warm up, but by all accounts we are in for an extremely wet weekend.
Hope you have a good weekend too,

I'm really sorry Helen, what about an etsy shop, they are so lovely I am sure they will be snuggling into warm and welcoming necks soon.

That is a disappointment, your items are lovely and would be sure to sell. I don't know what went wrong though I do know that often shops/galleries want to take too much commission to make hand knitting viable. I've taken a staff at a craft market a couple of times and done well, might be worth the £10 or so for a table, especially with Christmas coming up. You could add a few pairs of gloves or socks to fill the staff. Good luck

What a pity Helen. There are a lot of minefields in supplying shops and when it works its fantastic, but when it doesn't, its very demoralising. You'll be up and running with your etsy shop soon and see what happens. (I sent some instructions to your email)
Good luck

Hi Helen,
Sorry it didn't work out, why not look out for a craft fayre? There tends to be several between now and Christmas. If you take the items along you could use them to take orders and sell the items while you are there. Im sure the buyers would be happy to hold on till the end of the day. You could also take some sample wools and patterns showing other examples of items you could make?

What a shame Helen when you've made such beautiful things. I've had a similar experience with a gallery who wanted cushions and then changed their minds. I hope you manage to sell them.

Glad to see you made lemonade out of lemons and opened an Etsy shop. Your work is wonderful don't be discouraged, it is their loss.

How very annoying and disappointing for you. I think the practice is to get 50% up front so if they change their mind it at least covers the cost of your materials

Glad to hear you are recovering from your lurgy. I think there's a lot of it about/time of year etc/change in the weather/etc.

Thank you for your lovely comments on mine :o)

ps. I still would love to knit one of those blobs. Just the blob. They are exactly the shape of a blod cell which is the subject of my Brooklyn sketch book. Where can I find the pattern for the blob? xoxo

These are all just stunning - that light blue cowl takes my breath away - it is so lovely. You have wonderful taste in both yarns and designs~~
